YIN YOGA

Yin yoga is known as the quiet practice, attending to the forgotten inner realms. The focus of this class is to promote personal growth, a clearing of energy blocks, and enhancing circulation and flexibility.

Yin yoga focuses on the connective tissues as well as the meridians that end in the lower body. Poses are mostly performed from a seated or reclined position and are held for extended periods of time. Yin Yoga fosters a state of relaxation in the body that facilitates the development of flexibility, lubrication and rehabilitation of the connective tissue that forms the joints.

“Equal parts science and spirit, Yin Yoga and meditation can be experienced as a practice of optimal well-being for the whole self. Combining the practices of Yin Yoga and mindfulness meditation creates powerful possibilities for transformation and holistic healing on all layers of being—body, mind, and heart. This practice refreshes the mind to bring clarity and deeper understanding, and creates spaciousness in the heart to let us live and love with greater ease and more joy.”

TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA

Trauma is any experience that overwhelms your thoughts, emotions, or body, which can rewire your brain and body. It can change the way your brain interprets information. It can affect your memory, mood, emotions, and your feelings of safety and security.

By follwoing specific guidlines we are able to create a safe and inclusive space to explore the mind-body connection, tapping into our own uniqueninner landscape and rhythm. For many trauma survivors, being conscious of the body and being present in the body is quite a challenge.

For people whose body has been harmed in ways, having to focus on the body is very difficult and can be scary and triggering. "they dont feel safe; they dont feel stable." Trauma-Informed yoga attempts to make your body a safe space again by allowing yout the space to relaearn to trust your body. The invotation is to feel what feels right to you instead of forcing yourself to fit the expectations of your environment.

It's a way of teaching that avoids common triggering cues, poses, language, props and more. Its purpose is to allow you to feel as safe and comfortable during your practice so you heal your mind and body connection through movement.

Each of these classes are designed to be slow, and nourishing, with gentle movements and support.

“For real change to take place, the body needs to learn that the danger has passed and learn to live in the reality of the present.”

Amanda’s Yin classes have always been my favorite to attend! She provides the necessary level of guidance, while still facilitating quiet space for introspection and release. I highly recommend!
